Meet Kristy

A material girl who explores the material world

Hello Friends and Welcome

I am Kristy:  slow fashionista, stargazer, textile hunter, story teller, and mother of 2, who loves travelling the planet (and exploring my backyard of Australia) chasing fabric, spinning yarns and meeting makers.

Textiles, Traditions, Tribes

& Travel

I love to journey to remote corners of the world (I am currently obsessed with Peru and Mexico) where traditional textiles are still made slowly by hand.

Meditation in motion, I call it.

There is something inherently beautiful about these ancient art-forms and the simple, almost forgotten way of life that supports it, that commands one's full attention.

I have become obsessed with the weavers, the embroiders and the artists who create slowly using the skills and knowledge passed down from their ancestors.

Inspire.  Educate.  Empower.

My mission is to share the stories of the artists and their creations with you, so we can keep these amazing, other worldly traditions and art forms alive and continue to provide an empowered source of income for the weaving and artistic communities.

I believe in ethical and fair trade practices, honouring the creators by bringing a face to their work and supporting female co-operatives.

Happiness is Handmade

That's my motto.

When I am not abroad you will find me at home filling up the pages of linen-bound notebooks with my scrawly hand-writing, playing slow fashion dress-ups with my artisan made clothing, skipping down the streets with my children, sipping short blacks (not at the same time), and having creative conservations with strangers.

Because meeting people is what I love to do most!

I invite you to join me in my Kristy meets adventures and follow me into the worlds of the traditional artist, travel into off-the-beaten-track destinations, slow living and fashion and all things handmade, by signing up for my newsletter.

Like my fashion, promise I won't overload you, as I like to take things slow!
